The Rising Son

As a young boy, I grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. On Easter, most of the Christians would go to the Atlantic Ocean for the Easter Sunrise (Sonrise) Service. There would be thousands of early morning worshipers waiting to Praise God for another Easter and the symbolic rising of His Son Jesus Christ (Note: we were not worshiping the sun, but we were worshiping the Son). We would arrive while it was still dark and we would sing Easter Hymns while watching the orange glow in the sky until finally the orange got brighter and brighter, and finally we would see the break of the top arch of the sun on the watery horizon. We witnessed yet another Easter and the miracle of God in raising His Son from the dead. With that, the choir from several churches would sing, “Up from the Grave He Arose…” and “The Hallelujah Chorus.” Now, fast forward to a couple years ago… Read more

Be Mine

Jesus Loves You!

The first thing we think about when we say, “Valentines” is, little red hearts, cupids and bows and arrows – Valentine’s Day is focused around love and affection. Traditionally, it’s a day when lovers send flowers, cards etc. to let their loved ones know they are loved and appreciated. Let us go back to the reason for the season.

St. Valentine was martyred for his beliefs in Jesus Christ. Those beliefs surround the fact that God loves us so much He sent His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus loves us so much He gave His life for us: Read more

What is Mission?

When we go someplace to perform a task, we call that a mission. When we are called of God to go on a mission, it usually means the people going are missionaries. In a military sense, a mission is a task assigned to a group usually by a higher authority. I like that, because I believe if I am to be a “missionary” on a mission, I should be called by God to perform that mission. Why ask such a mundane question, you ask? Because it will set the framework of this article. Read more

Pastor Arthur's Church

Zion Church

On 30 October 2011, I was invited to preach in Zion Church in Nagappattinam, India where there are over 10,000 people who come to worship the Lord Jesus Christ at Zion Church. Let me share a bit about this church because it has a very interesting history! I do not know all of it, but I do know some of the most recent past. Read more

G Richard Travis India Travel Update 11/18/11

Sorry for the long delay, the ability to communicate from the Philippines was quite difficult, and I have been worn out and weary since my return to the States. I have had a good partial night’s sleep and feel a bit better this morning, so I figured I would write while the write is still in me.

One of Pastor Acar’s deacons, Herbert Hernandez, came to the Dumaguete (DUMA GETY) Airport from Bais City to get me, took me to lunch at Shakey’s Pizza then drove me to Bais City for a Sunday “morning” church service – the people knew I was coming and stayed at the church until I arrived (they finished about noon and waited until about 1400 for me to arrive). Prayer for G Richard Travis – Traveling Home

The latest update for G Richard Travis is that he is currently traveling back home to the States today and tomorrow (11/14-15/2011). Richard has been on a very long missionary trip overseas to India and the Philippines to visit with members of SEAM’s native missions teams. He will have many stories and photos to share in the coming weeks so check back often to this site for updates.

We ask for prayer for Richard’s safe travels back to the U.S. and continued wellness in the coming weeks. Richard has been a great blessing to Southeast Asian Missions and we are grateful for his faithfulness in serving GOD and the missions.
